What is a Vape Detector?

A Vape detector is a security sensor that detects the release of smoke and/or vapor from electronic vaping devices. The sensors can be installed in a variety of locations in your building, including in the ceiling (typically with coverage up to 12′ x 12′ when placed on an 8′ ceiling). The sensor is designed to detect smoke or vapor and will send an alert when triggered. The device can also be configured to trigger on other chemicals and particles, such as perfumes or cleaning products.

Is there a device to detect vaping?

The sensors are very effective and can be used to deter unauthorized use in schools, hospitals, hotels, or even commercial offices. They can also be integrated with other security systems to provide an overall solution to your facility’s needs.

As e-cigarettes and vape pens become more popular among students, many school districts across the US are employing technology to help fight back. Some are using vape detection sensors that look like smoke or carbon monoxide detectors to prevent students from smoking in places where it isn’t allowed. The sensors work by detecting particulates in the air, similar to what traditional smoke detectors do.

These sensors can be paired with surveillance cameras, which will record the actions of anyone who enters an area where smoking is prohibited. This way, administrators can see who is sneaking into restrooms or closets to vape. This will make it easier to catch and discipline the offender. Some sensors are also equipped to pick up raised voices, a common indicator of bullying behavior.
